There is no other museum compares to the Egyptian museum in Egyptian artifacts in number and value.
The foundation was attributed to the French archeologist Augustus Mariett, who wished to be buried in its garden.
The total number of pieces in display exceeds 300,000 pieces. it was calculated ,if you spent 1minute in front of every piece this would need you 2 years to cover it all.
Average number visitors to this museum is not less than 20,000 daily. even in summer time when Egypt is hot, this museum is never empty.
The museum consists of 2 floors. the tour inside follows chronology. you would not miss pieces of the mean eras ( old ,middle ,new kingdom).
As you enter the Egyptian museum have a look at the ancient sacred flower lotus. it is one of seldom chances as tourist to see this holy flower.
As opens with the sun rise and closes with the sun set, it was regarded as symbol of resurrection.

28 scribes were in the sand on Sakkara. All of them were named except for this one however the eyes make it one of the master pieces

The surprise is that the artist didn't use any sticking glue. the artist must have had an idea about the expansion and contraction rate of these different stones to be inlaid in each other without falling off after 4500 years.

It was dedicated to the goddess Hathor by Bonaparte of the east "Thuthmossis III". This is the quality of colors you are looking at ,in the valley of the kings (1500 B.C.)
Note the 5 pointed stars as they represent human beings. Every dead king would ascend to heaven and become a 5 pointed star. It is the same idea quoted by Walt Disney in "Lion King " movie.
The gold found in the treasure of the New-kingdom king Tuth Ankh Amon made him the most famous king in the world.
His body was found in side a pure golden coffin of 22 kart gold. however it was heavy (115k.g) but I guess people would be happy to carry it.
The estimated value of the coffin is 22 million US$ for the gold in it.
The estimated gold value in the treasure at that time is 43 million US $., but it is priceless of course.
One of the most tourist attraction in the museum is the mummies room.
It has 11 royal mummies of a total of 2 that the museum has. the one in the picture belongs to Ramsses the 2nd.
As a group of archeologists were unwrapping the mummies bundles , the right arm that was over pressed originally moved forward as a reaction. the unexpected move was shocking. For a seconded they thought the king came back to life.
